NDA 98th Presidential Inauguration and Scholarship

Hosted by the Robert T. Freeman Dental Society
The history of the National Dental Association (founded in 1913) and its precursor, the Robert T. Freeman Dental Society (founded in 1900) is one of relentless advocacy for human rights and social justice. It stands alone in its stewardship of oral health for disenfranchised descendants of slaves and the traditionally neglected. At this moment of reckoning, while some have been awakened to the atrocities of racism; others have been reawakened to harsh realities of its impact on health. The health and healing of this nation depends on the admission, not denial, of the deep wounds of slavery and its lingering impact. The challenge is to resist the urge to assimilate into a society that diminishes the value of humanity. The charge is to be steadfast in the commitment to achieve health equity for everyone. The goal is to increase the number of African American health and oral health professionals committed to serving populations that need them most. Your generous support will be deeply appreciated.

Today's students are the hope for tomorrow.
