INTER-PROFESSIONAL STUDENT LEADERSHIP COLLOQUIUM AND SUMMIT, 2023.

Established in 2017, the goals of the NDA Interprofessional student leaders initiative are:
- To strengthen the health leadership pipeline by identifying and cultivating ethnically and racially diverse student leaders for career leadership roles that will be transformational and positively influence systemic change;
- To focus training on areas that characterize a transformational leader;
- To provide leaders of tomorrow with the skill sets they will need over the span of their careers, to achieve goals that will impact systemic, social and behavioral change for improved population health;
- To develop a program uniquely suited for leaders for whom health equity is a matter of social justice, and health leadership is a moral obligation;
- To identify and collaborate with institutions and faculty mentors dedicated to diversity and training student leaders in their respective disciplines: medicine, dentistry, nursing, pharmacy, social work, public health, communications, business and law; and
- To involve students in collaborative group projects.
“Health Equity, Advocacy and Reform: The Role of Future Leaders”
Leadership training for select students is essential for achieving maximal potential. Participation in this elite leadership training program, now in its 6th year, is restricted to student leaders selected by their Deans and faculty. The focus is on training leaders of tomorrow to be transformational and to provide them with the skill sets they will need over the span of their careers, to become influential leaders and change-agents. The project’s purpose is to promote advocacy, justice, equity, diversity and inclusion to improve health and oral health outcomes. Because despite significant progress made in clinical care, research and technology, new products and materials, innovative techniques and delivery systems, and other advances - America is still falling short of achieving holistic, optimal health for all.
